INTERVIEW

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a Surrey girl who moved to Whistler to live the dream of fresh powder, pristine park and riding with good friends. When I’m not snowboarding, I save lives at the local pool, crochet toques and bake cookies.

How do you express yourself? What do you do?

I’m learning so much going to school, working towards my Bachelor of Science, snowboarding every chance I get, reading, and traveling. I try to reflect all these things in my personality.

How did you get your start?

I started by tagging along with my friends from school for an escape from studying. Before long, I fell in love with shredding the local hills and trekking up to Whistler every chance I got.

What's your home hill?

Mount Seymour.

Park, pipe or big mountain?

An amazing day on the hill includes riding big powder turns, some secret tree runs and a couple of laps through the park to jib and jump.

What is an average day for you?

Midweek, I’m busy back to school at UBC during the day and riding Vancouver local mountains at night. For my extended Friday to Monday weekend, I head up to Whistler, wake around 7:30, call up the crew, make coffee and head out to the gondola for a day of shredding.

Who are your influences?

The crew I ride with in Whistler is so motivated to shoot and film. I’m so inspired to look for new lines and hits and do something I’m scared of every day. My mom is also a big influence in my life and has taught me so much about following my dreams.

Advice to those coming up?

Bend your knees!!! Haha. But seriously, do it.

If you’re passionate about something in life, it all translates into hard work and commitment.

What ignites your soul?

Standing at the top of an untouched line that you’ve been checking out for weeks, waiting for the perfect snow day to finally hit. The excitement and fear of dropping in to something completely new blows my mind.

Words to live by......

Commit.

Do you ride to music? If yes, who’s in your IPOD?

I’m loving Alice in Videoland, Ladytron, The Go! Team and some People Under the Stairs.

What's on your desert island?

A Tim Hortons

You're successful when you've......

Smiling every day

What's in your pocket/wallet right now?

17 cents, granola bar wrapper (you can’t litter off the chairlift), hair elastic and some lint.

What do you spend your summers doing?

I spent this summer hanging out in Whistler recovering from a nasty crash, but the summer before, I followed winter down to Snowpark New Zealand and rode for an extra 3 months.

Tell us about your worst spill?

One overshot booter, one helicopter airlift to Vancouver, 2 weeks intensive care, 3 weeks total in hospital, 6 more months of rehab…

What's the goal for this season?

Keep progressing my riding, travel to different resorts and explore new terrain, get backside 5’s on lockdown and keep laughing while I’m doing it!

Last words....

Thanks to mum for the never ending love and support as well as supplementing the hospital food with timbits and coolwhip, Dave, Braden, Voleurz.com, Mike at Noble, the Pacific Boarder crew, Kemp and everyone at Arson.
