INTERVIEW

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a French guy, from the south west of France to be precise, and I dedicate my time to the ocean and the mountains. I live for the ocean, the mountains and mother nature. My life is built around my passions: riding, traveling and friends. I’m a bit of a dreamer who expects life to be about peace, love and happiness… Watch out planet earth!!

How do you express yourself? What do you do?

I have dedicated my life to nature and an attempt to be in harmony with it. The simplest things are the soul food of life. I like snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding, and artsy stuff. These things give me energy that I can then share with friends, family, and colleagues.

How did you get your start?

I was a skier and a skateboarder for a long time. My friends were snowboarding and when I tried it I fell in love. Snowboarding is a natural extension of my other activities. A snowboard is the perfect toy to communicate with the mountains and natural terrain.

What's your home hill?

The Pyrénées mountains in south west of France. This range is forever in my heart. More precisely, La Mongie/Barèges is the resort I grew up and learned on. Nowadays I’m everywhere I can find fresh terrain, new mountains, new experiences and good vibes.

Park, pipe or big mountain?

I love it all. I like to shred in a park or take some air in a pipe… it’s a part of snowboarding. To me snowboarding is about communicating with the terrain and this changes wherever you are. I mainly focus, however, on big mountain riding. The backcountry feeds my creativity. Mountains are big, powerful, endless, perfect playgrounds that we must take care of.

What is an average day for you?

Wake up… eat a huge breakfast… scope out the half meter of fresh powder… contact some good friends… then get out on the mountain. I love the feel of the cold snow on my face and I make sure to have as much fun as possible. It’s really all about that; enjoying each moment of the day and coming home refreshed and positive!

Who are your influences?

First my family, then my crew, Denjo brothers, some guys I love to ride with, “south west is my quest”, big up!!! Then all the people I have met in my life- real and true people who have helped me develop a really positive outlook on life!

How is it reppin' out of France these days?

I’m mostly out of France every winter, but when I’m back I just find some motivated people to go riding with. In France, the scene is on with some awesome riders and authentic events (poney session, intercrew, intergirlactik etc...). I get to help push the creativity level up, mixing all the different aspects of our sport: friendship, mother nature, art, fun…..

Advice to those coming up?

If you aren't doing something you love, rewind and find your true path. Charge ahead, be true to yourself, respect the environment. It’s your playground, have fun, life is beautiful.

What ignites your soul?

Life, mother nature, and music.

Words to live by......

Try to make each minute of life a work of art.

Do you ride to music? If yes, who’s in your IPOD?

Music is my religion, the rhythm of my day. It is vital for me and so close to my heart. My ipod is full of all sorts of different things, rock, hiphop, elec, jazz, funk, world… great music made by creative and inspired people. What I listen to at any moment really depends on my mood.

What's on your desert island?

Surfboard, hammock, fishing sticks, music instruments, books.. and enough seeds to make my own harvest near a small river in da bush, to cook healthy food.

You're successful when you've......

Done a smooth backside smith in a pool.

What do you spend your summers doing?

Surfing, chilling with friends, and enjoying life when I’m not on snow. I’m now focusing on filming and editing, as well working hard to travel and ride again.

Tell us about your worst spill?

The first time we were shooting in Austria with Richard Walsh, a european photographer, we were hiking on a ridge about 3 meters away from the side and suddenly a huge spring cornice dislodged and carried me down into a chute. I stopped right under the top lip on a snow stair with about a foot of space. It was super scary!!!

What's your goal for this season?

My goal is to try to move people to act for saving the planet. I am really focused on environmental activism! I want to keep improving my riding and gain more mountain experience. I plan to keep working on filming, shooting, meeting people, and I’d like to visit North America . I’d also like to get involved in an interesting job... Damn, it’s a lot!

Last words....

Thanks to mum and dad for giving me the opportunity to enjoy life on planet earth -  my friends, Denjo crew, big up to Holger and Klaus from DEELUXE, CAPITA and UNION, Alex from DAKINE, Patrick from ARVA Safety Gear, Mat from Bollé, and Ricard from Horny Bodies. Thanks for your support... and the last big up for Andrea and Mara from ARSON, my friend Kemp, thanks for pushing the industry in a good direction in a way that expresses the nicest spirit ever, rock on BC!!
